Around the Parish June 27, 2019

Sisters and Brothers,

As we have announced, we will be remembering the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall this Sunday. Our celebration will not necessarily preempt our normal worship, but we will have a special anthem sung by our Choir and Toby Jenkins will be our guest preacher. On Sunday we also gather for food and fellowship at our periodic Parish Potluck. Please bring a side-dish to share.

As you may know, I am enrolled a Doctorate program at Phillips Theological Seminary. In my class last week, we looked at several prayer practices, such as Lectio divina, Contemplative Prayer, Journaling, Examine, etc. I began wondering if these kinds of practices might be interest to you. On Sunday, several indicated they would like to learn more, so I will be offering a brief overview of these kinds of practices and we'll have a chance to experience them. We'll begin with one of the most ancient: Lectio divina on July 7th after a bit of fellowship.

Blessings!

Fr. Dewayne
