Sisters and Brothers,
Last Sunday, those who were at church got to see a preview of the new altar that Salvador is carving for us. He is doing a fine job and dedicating a lot of time and attention to the details. It will be beautiful once it is finished.
As is the custom of many Anglo-catholic altars, the mensa, (the table portion of the altar) will be carved with 5 crosses - each corresponding to the 5 wounds that Christ received during the crucifixion (hands, feet and side).
If you would like to make a donation to the expense in having this altar constructed in honor or memory of someone, we'll include them, and you, in the liturgy when the Bishop comes to dedicate it. Donations can be made via check, credit card, or cash.
Another thing I want to point out this week is our upcoming Kermesse. While this is a Mexican-themed celebration, the root of this strange word actually comes from the Dutch word "kerk" which means "church." Thus a Kermesse is term essentially meaning "church fundraiser." Please plan on supporting our fundraising efforts. Bring friends to worship with you on the 15th. We'll all enjoy some good food and a great time.
Blessings!
Fr. Dewayne
