Sisters and Brothers,
Today, August 1st, marks my 5th anniversary as your pastor. It has been a genuine blessing and I am so happy to be serving among you!
In some ways the time has flown by and it seems like I became your pastor just yesterday. In other ways it seems like we've been together much longer than that. (After all, it was at St. Jerome's 10 years ago that I was ordained as a transitional Diaconate.) Over these past 5 years I have been granted the honor of sharing some of your most intimate and "sacred" moments. That is not something I take lightly. I have grown to love each of you in your own uniqueness.
Like any relationship there have been times of worry, struggle and joy. There have been plenty of sleepless nights holding some of you up in prayer. Ordination does not make me any less human. I've not always gotten things right. Sometimes I've said or done things that may have caused hurt. For my missteps and mistakes, I offer my humble apologies.
Now that we have reached this milestone together, perhaps we might want to pause and give God thanks. No doubt God has something wonderful in store for us in the next 5 years. I look forward to our joint future together! Thanks for your trust and allowing me to serve as your shepherd.
