The Parish Church of St. Jerome and its
sister parishes embrace the Permanent
Diaconate as a full and equal Order of the Church.
Ordination in our denomination will be open to ALL qualified individuals regardless of
gender, race, ethnicity, marital status, or sexual orientation.
If
you are considering ordination, we invite you to prayerfully consider the
Order of the Permanent Diaconate. This page is
dedicated to helping you and others learn more about serving God and the
people of God through the Deacon’s ministry of liturgy, word, and
charity.
The
diaconate is an historic order, with roots in the ancient church. Deacons
function in ministries of liturgy, word, and charity, or as we like to
say, ministry, mercy and service. The deacons of a denomination serve directly
under their Bishop and are typically assigned to a Parish or a
non-parochial ministry. Once ordained, deacons exercise leadership among
the faithful, encouraging, training, and organizing them for various
ministries.
